HypeAuditor has analysed Instagram influencers worldwide and found out influencers from what countries have  the highest and the lowest engagement rate.

What is Engagement Rate?

Engagement rate is the percent of the audience who likes or comments on the posts (engages with the content).

Highly engaged content with many likes and comments often stand a better chance of organically appearing on an Instagram feed.

Top 10 countries with the highest engagement rate

  1. Greece – 5.17%
  2. Japan – 4.93%
  3. Poland – 4.35%
  4. Belgium – 4.34%
  5. Norway – 4.30%
  6. Germany – 4.29%
  7. Austria – 4.25%
  8. France – 4.24%
  9. Netherlands – 4.21%
  10. Switzerland – 4.066%

High engagement rate shows that users in these countries are more engaged in the influencers content.

To get a better understanding of the engagement rate in these countries we broke down influencers into five main influencer tiers by the number of Instagram followers and compared the average engagement rate by tiers with the average Worldwide engagement rate.

Mega-influencers & Celebrities (over 1M followers)
they often have a very mixed audience with various topics of interest.
Their relationships with them are more distant compared to other groups
of influencers. They have the biggest reach but the lowest trust.

Macro-influencers (100K – 1M followers)
they are famous in a local community, you can think of them as a “mini-celebrity.” Their content is usually high-quality and is comprised of a certain passion or topic.

Micro (5K-20K followers) and Mid-tier influencers (20K-100K followers)
they have more niche audience that is highly engaged with the deeper connection. Micro-influencers present in almost any sector: health and fitness, food, entrepreneurship, fashion, and beauty to name just a few prominent categories.

Nano-influencers (1K-5K followers)
They are regular consumers who are passionate and willing to share, but have little influence.

There were 26 794 000 Instagram users in Japan on September 2019, which accounted for 21% of its entire population.

There were 6 757 000 Instagram users in Poland on September 2019, which accounted for 17% of its entire population.

4. Engagement rate in Belgium

There were 3 396 000 Instagram users in Belgium on September 2019, which accounted for 29% of its entire population.

5. Engagement rate in Norway

There were 2 200 000 Instagram users in Norway on September 2019, which accounted for 40% of its entire population.

6. Engagement rate in Germany

There were 20 250 000 Instagram users in Germany on September 2019, which accounted for 24% of its entire population.

7. Engagement rate in Austria

There were 2 289 000 Instagram users in Austria on September 2019, which accounted for 26% of its entire population.

8. Engagement rate in France

There were 16 850 000 Instagram users in France on September 2019, which accounted for 25% of its entire population.

9. Engagement rate in the Netherlands

There were 6 147 000 Instagram users in the Netherlands on September 2019, which accounted for 35% of its entire population.

10. Engagement rate in Switzerland

There were 2 530 000 Instagram users in Switzerland on September 2019, which accounted for 29% of its entire population.

Low engagement rate shows that users in these countries are less engaged in the influencers content.

2. Engagement rate in Kuwait

There were 1 755 400 Instagram users in Kuwait on September 2019, which accounted for 40% of its entire population.
