I have been cherishing our time together recently - especially when we get home from school - those precious few hours where there is a bit of time to play, and do things like practice spellings or listen to her playing the piano whilst prepping bits for dinner is often my favourite part of the day. Of course we have our challenging evenings too, yesterday she was being an absolute pickle - that dangerous mix of over excited and over tired that often happens at this time of year. As a result I was in bed at 9pm! Just to let you know am sharing some book news in stories and a link to the @teaandtattlepodcast which I was interviewed for recently. Would love you to take a listen... I so enjoyed chatting to @mirandasbookcase ✌🏻✨🎄 #slowmoments #motherhoodunplugged #theartofslowliving #slowlivingforlife
This time yesterday evening I welcomed lots of lovely folk to our very favourite @maltcafe to celebrate the release of my book Seeking Slow. It was a such a wonderful evening and I am still basking in the glow of it all today. For someone who is a natural introvert, the thought of organising an event like this is not within my comfort zone and the thought or speaking in front of a room full of people and reading a taster from my book was pretty terrifying. However, I have been conscious to really grab hold of celebrating this achievement and all the hard work that has gone into creating this book. And I am so glad I did! It’s such an important part of the creative process to acknowledge and celebrate the work we do, it fills us up and allows us to experience that human connection. I hardly managed to take any photos of the evening and this picture is from a series of images I took last spring for the book. It felt like things had come full circle to be able to hang this dried flower wreath @maltcafe for the book launch yesterday. It was hanging next to a beautiful handmade wreath by Bex from @botanical_tales - in fact I made this wreath at one of her workshops. Thanks to Bex from @botanical_tales @sevenseventeenuk @storeforthemind @hotpodyoga_worthing @salt.water.studios for contributing thoughtful gifts to the goody bags. Also thanks to @wildblumeimagery for capturing photos of the evening. You can see more from the evening in stories (have added a book launch to my highlights too). #seekingslow #slowlivingforlife #slowliving_create.
Hello instagram, it’s been a little while, I have mostly been taking the pressure off, enjoying life and taking it easy. Every time I thought l ‘should’ post a picture I just couldn’t quite get myself in the mood. Come the evening I have just felt like winding down for bed and relaxing - so that’s what I have been doing! Apart from this week, where I have been doing all sorts of book launch related happenings like making my own homemade stamps and playing with dried flowers... all the essentials 😂 See more in stories if you fancy a look-see. This photo is from our lovely holiday in wales... how could I not capture this 💕✨👌🏻 #beautifuldecay #capturingchildhood #our_everyday_momentsl
I’ve been wanting to have a frank conversation about mental health for some time, but didn’t really have the energy before now. This year, at times my anxiety has been at its worst! I have had a course of CBT therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy) and also started to see a counsellor regularly, both have been really great positive steps in helping me feel better. Through my experiences there are a few things I have come to realise... ~ You never really know what’s going on for some one. ~ There is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to our health and well-being. ~ Being kind to ourselves when we are struggling is so important. ~ It’s crucial that we make space for our minds to daydream and find moments of quiet. ~ Finally, if we can begin to find the courage to talk openly about what is going on for us that’s a really great start. I’ve written more about my experience with mental health and shared seven simple everyday things I do that help my mental wellbeing over on Geoffrey and Grace (link in profile) Will share some in stories too ✌🏻 Here’s to feeling good people. #mentalhealthawareness #mentalwellbeing #mindfulmoments
